Reddit user Glarznak has revealed that the M7 motion coprocessor inside the iPhone 5s is still working and tracking the user's movements even if the phone's battery dies. The news could spark a new scandal as the iPhone tracks its owners' actions.
Glarznak says: “While traveling abroad, my iPhone cable broke and my 5s stopped working. I often use Argus to track my routes, and it is known to work with the M7 chip in the phone.”
“I just got back from my vacation and charged my phone, and I was amazed to see that Argus was showing all my routes from the 4 days my phone wasn’t working. I was impressed but also horrified.”
The iPhone 5s' M7 chip is known for its minimal requirements, and it is also known that when an iPhone turns off by itself, the battery does not completely drain. So it is completely natural what happened to Mr. Glarznak. The issue that arises once again is the violations in the privacy of each person who uses an iPhone 5S, and does not know that their movements are being recorded.
