Microsoft MS13-080: finally fixes Internet Explorer security flaw

Internet ExplorerMicrosoft has released eight new security updates on its regular Patch Tuesday. One of them finally fixes a vulnerability in Internet Explorer.

The company says that the MS13-080 is rated as critical, which means that users should prioritize installing it. The MS13-080 update fixes a total of 10 vulnerabilities in  Internet Explorer. Eight of them have not been published, but two are freely available on the Internet.

"The most severe vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user visits a specially crafted website using Internet Explorer. An attacker who successfully exploited the most severe of these vulnerabilities could gain the same privileges as the owner. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer privileges on the system are less affected than users who have administrator privileges," Microsoft said.

The security update is considered critical for IE6, IE7, IE8, IE9, and IE10 on Windows.
