Britain's Victoria & Albert has purchased the first gun created by a 3-D printer. It was the weapon that caused alarm among anti-gun groups when it was unveiled in the United States.
The Museum said the weapon is an addition to its collection of “new influences, innovative or experimental” with contemporary design.
The “ Liberator ” is the weapon developed by University of Texas law student Cody Wilson , and is made entirely of plastic parts created on a 3-D printer .
Wilson took a shot at it in May, and posted the printing blueprints online, sparking a discussion about the potential uses of such 3-D objects that, since they're plastic, aren't detectable.
The museum said Sunday that it had acquired the two Liberator prototypes, a disassembled weapon and a series of print files.
