From the Economic Police Service and the Cybercrime Investigation Unit, a procedural case file was created against a 32-year-old Greek national in Ioannina, who is accused of sexual dignity assault via the internet.
For this specific case, there had been prior complaints, according to which an unknown internet user, via a specific profile on a social networking site, was conversing with students in the Ioannina region, and during their communication, he insulted their generational dignity.
From the digital online investigation that was carried out, following a request by the Athens Juvenile Prosecutor's Office for a preliminary examination and in cooperation with internet service providers, the involvement and details of the 32-year-old Greek national were identified.
In an investigation carried out at his home in Ioannina, in the presence of a Judicial Officer and during an on-site examination of his computer, it was found that he maintained an account on an electronic communication program, through which he chatted with many other users. It was also verified the reported matters regarding the indecent proposals and the insult to generational dignity, and it was discovered that he also used the connections of two other individuals, without their knowledge, in order to have access to the internet.
In the context of the investigation, a (1) laptop, a (1) internal hard drive and two (2) external storage units (USB Sticks) were found and seized, which will be sent to the Criminal Investigation Department for further laboratory examination.
The 32-year-old was not arrested due to the expiration of the summary procedure, and the case file filed against him will be submitted to the Athens First Instance Prosecutor's Office.
