It is a well-known fact that torrent sites come and go. So it is no longer surprising if one closes down, or changes domain after police intervention. The disappearance of H33t last week is a very good example. The news came as no surprise to anyone. But did anyone wonder why H33t had to change domain? The hasty change was due to Universal Music wanting to prevent the piracy of a very “amazing” new album.
The company ordered the registrar of the H33t to shut down H33t.com, wiping the website from the internet. The company, Key-Systems, had to remove H33t.com from its DNS servers after a German court ruled against it.
H33t was back online the next day under H33t.eu. TorrentFreak tells us the name of the artist and the name of the album that caused this whole thing. Universal tried to block the distribution of pirated copies of Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines.
We probably owe the company a favor for removing the album.
