The US Foreign Intelligence Surveillance (FISA) court has ordered the government to proceed with the declassification of documents related to the mass collection of information from the phones of the country's citizens.
FISC Judge F. Dennis Saylor said the government should review the legal opinions issued to date that have been used to justify the mass surveillance practices of the intelligence community, which forced U.S. telecommunications companies to hand over the metadata of millions of phone calls.
Of course, Saylor supports the public interest that has been violated by the NSA, as RT reports.
According to the Supreme Court's ruling, the government must comply with its order by October 4 and revise Section 215 of the Patriot Act.
