Have you ever seen your friends put a piece of tape over their laptop's webcam? Well, they're not crazy.
According to experts, a hacker can take photos from your webcam, through the browser, without asking for your consent.
He doesn't ask for it because you have simply already given it to him.
Security consultant Egor Homakovsays the hack uses some old tricks to achieve this. The Flash requires users' browsers to grant it permission before even opening a website. Through this feature, hackers can find their way to your computer's camera.
Without going into too much detail, Egor Homakov uses fancy CSS/HTML to cover the Flash permission panel with a transparent layer and place an invisible "Allow" button right above something the user is most likely to click - like, say, "Play" on a video.
