Following the recent events, South American countries belonging to the Mercosur announced that they would withdraw their ambassadors from the European countries that participated in the landing of the Bolivian presidential plane.
“We have taken a series of measures in order to have public explanations and apologies from the European countries that attacked our brother Evo Morales,” Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, as reported by RT.
The countries recalling their ambassadors are Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.
In a joint statement, the Mercosur nations criticized the incident, calling it an "indicative hostile mentality" that violates human rights and hinders people's freedom to travel.
Last week, after a meeting in Moscow, Evo Morales' plane was forced to land because there were suspicions that Snowden. France, Spain, Portugal and Italy blocked their airspace and demanded permission to search the presidential plane, which of course, they were not allowed to do.
Immediately, a summit was called and several South American countries expressed their dissatisfaction with the incident, demanding explanations which, of course, have not yet been given.
