Do you give orders to the computer or will it give orders to you?

Have you heard the blabbering of some of our politicians who claim that Greeks will never accept Chinese wages? I suggest you worry, because even if you agree to work in third-world poverty, no one will offer you a job.

The new trend started in the US, but today even Chinese factories are seeing that robots are cheaper and better than human workers. In addition to industrial workers, machines are now replacing other jobs. Accounting is becoming more and more automated, while marketing and advertising are now decided by data analysis algorithms.

So if more and more work is now done by computers, what will be left for humans? This is a big issue and I don't want to play the prophet.

What is certain is that we are moving towards an even more complex world where those who control computers will be sought after and well paid. But everyone else (always with a few exceptions), will either be replaced by robots or, if that is not yet possible, will be controlled and take orders from machines:

If you have seen the statistics that come out after every sports game, you will know how coaches and players regulate their behavior based on these performance indicators.

We will slowly see similar control mechanisms in all tasks and unskilled workers will become mere robots in the service of machines.

So learn programming now or specialize in something very special so that a machine can be built to produce it, otherwise you will regret it.

George St. Epitideios

P.S. The last sentence of the text is indeed offensive but I'm afraid it's necessary. When the future of your career is at stake, it's better to face the truth.
