Microsoft Security Essentials users are reporting that they can no longer receive updates for new viruses, and it appears to be a new bug in Microsoft's software.
H Online reports that while the automatic update option is enabled, it stopped receiving updates a few days ago and clicking “Update” still doesn’t work. Users have no choice but to download and install the latest malware updates themselves.
The bug was first reported on January 19, but Microsoft has yet to release a fix or, at least, make a statement on the matter.
The solution is to download standalone updates for new viruses. Try from the official Microsoft page.
