KeePass 2.35 has just been released. The next version of the password manager comes with a new KDBX file format version and many security improvements.
We should mention once again that the KeePass password manager is the password manager we use, as it does not store data on the Web but locally on your computer (encrypted, of course).
For those who are not familiar, KDBX is the file format used by the KeePass password manager to store information about the device. Version 4 of KDBX includes improvements and new features.
One of the biggest security-related changes coming with the new release is support for the Argon2 key derivation function.
His algorithm won the Password Hashing Competition. As of the new version of KeePass 2.35, users of the software can change the key derivation function from AES-KDF to Argon.
To change the key derivation function, run KeePass 2.35.
Select File – Database Settings. On the Security tab, find “key derivation function.”
