A New York man has become the absolute master of the new Pokémon Go game in the US, after managing to catch every Pokémon listed in his country's Pokédex.
Last Thursday, Reddit user ftb_hodor posted a screenshot of screen , clearly showing that he had completed his Pokédex with all 142 characters.
This feat was made possible by the player's sheer dedication from level 31 of Pokémon Go. The trainer apparently spent two weeks - at least 50 hours a week - incubating 303 eggs and covering over 95 miles on foot. During that time, he managed to collect a total of 4,269 Pokémon.
Ftb_hodor claimed that the longest distance he had to travel to play the game was all the way to New Jersey. He credited four PokéStops, located right across from Central Park, for helping him complete his hunt.
According to Vox, there are actually a total of 151 characters that trainers can catch in the augmented reality game – nine of which are either extremely rare or located in a locked area.
Three of the Pokémon not in ftb_hodor's Pokédex are those found exclusively in other regions of the world: Mr Mime (Europe), Kangaskhan (Australia), and Farfetch'd (Asia). The rest are Articuno, Ditto, Mew, Mewtwo, Moltres, and Zapdos, none of which have been spotted since the game launched in early July.
