Meet the first automated selfie stick. It extends or telescopes out on its own, has a pair of beauty lights that extend from the back of the iPhone , and even fans that unfold to blow your hair back for the perfect, windblown look.
It's the craziest and least practical selfie stick ever made. It's also, unfortunately, unavailable for purchase.
Created by Thinkmodo, the automated selfie stick is a working gadget, but there are only two of them (one is a spare) and they were created to promote the upcoming season of Unreal.
Thinkmodo spent three months building the device, which features a large black and red handle that houses the wiring, motors, and batteries needed to automatically extend the stick, and a phone base that houses the lights and fans. There's even a second battery in the back of the phone base to power the beauty lights and the motors that extend them. Did we mention it's also a hefty selfie stick?
Like a regular selfie stick, it connects to your phone via Bluetooth (iPhone only). Even the fans work, though Thinkmodo admits to taking a little artistic license in the ad. “The fans are powerful enough to blow your hair, but like any commercial, we may have added a little extra wind effect to enhance it.”
Actress Noa Lindberg, who is currently starring in a vampire film called The Soiree, said she has found her favorite feature of the automated selfie stick. "It's definitely the lights. They're just fantastic. It's like being in a studio," she said.
