UEFA has revealed that it will be filming matches in virtual reality at the EURO 2016 finals!

EURO 2016, which takes place in France and starts on June 10, brings together 24 of Europe's best teams including England, Germany, Spain and Portugal! According to the Daily Mirror, UEFA plans to use dozens of Nokia OZO cameras worth $60,000 to capture 360-degree video inside the stadiums, although it is unclear what the organization plans to do with this footage.
One option UEFA is considering is to have a YouTube channel where users can watch some of this footage filmed at the EURO, but nothing is final yet.
“It is UEFA’s goal that one day fans will be able to watch matches through immersive virtual reality,” said UEFA TV head Bernard Ross. He added that their goal is for people to experience matches as if they were at the stadium.

Football, as a sport governed by its governing body FIFA, has not been the fastest to adopt emerging technologies. It took FIFA years to adopt goal-line technology and it has not yet been implemented by every league in the world.
EURO 2016 is the first major football tournament to use virtual reality to a large extent after a brief trial during the recent Champions League semi-finals.
