Samsung "dives" from smartphones to surfboards with the "Galaxy Surfboard"
After a slew of gadgets ranging from wearables to crowdfunded projects with the craziest ideas, Samsung was the last tech company we thought would ever create something as interesting as the Galaxy Surfboard. With extreme sports getting smarter and drones taking part in competitions, we think it should come as no surprise that Samsung has also branched out into this.
As its name suggests, the Galaxy Surfboard is a high-tech surfboard. The product was made possible thanks to a collaboration between Leo Burnett and Johnny Cabianca, and if you look closely, you’ll also be able to see the installation of an LED screen inside the surfboard itself.
But what will the main function of the screen be? First of all, it will display information about wave conditions, wind direction, speeds and many other metrics that will give you an advantage when you decide to go out on the tide. In addition, it will also be able to display tweets from fans, to give surfers an extra boost, along with advice from their coach, all in real time.
While this is certainly something that could distract from surfing, we believe that since the Samsung Galaxy Surfboard is still in its early stages, it's going to take some tweaking before the actual product is ready for consumers, if Samsung actually had any intentions of releasing such a product to the market.
