Mazar Bot: Android banking Trojan source code available online! – Sold on Russian underground forums for $500 dollars!
There is a slight deviation from the Android banking Trojans that have been released in recent years, but according to the IBM X-Force team, all these malicious programs are “one of the same”, and they originate from the threatening IBM family that has been identified since 2014. A few weeks ago, Heimdal Security revealed a malicious software called Mazar BOT, but now, an even more advanced malware named GM BOT has made its appearance.

This particular malware has been making a strong appearance on Russian-speaking cybercrime underground forums, and is being sold for as little as $500. The malware is also referred to as Acekard and Slempo, likely to avoid detection by authorities.
According to the IBM security team, the creator of this threat is now working on a newer version and has abandoned the current version (which is referred to as version 1.0). However, he managed to sell the distribution rights for the latest version (known as Mazar BOT) to another criminal.
When the criminal decided to sell it to the admin of an underground hacking forum, the source code leaked. The source code was placed in a password‑protected file, and registered forum users must send the admin a private message to request the password. The admin should have thought a bit more carefully before giving the password… in the end he inserted it, but that caused a panic.
Users started sharing the code among themselves, and within a short period, the source code of Mazar BOT was shared throughout the hacking underground.
And why am I telling you all this? Because very simply, when a dangerous malware leaks, then very soon another—usually more dangerous—scans everything in its path.
