Google is killing Flash Ads.. it's becoming 100% HTML 😉

Another tough day for Flash!... Google announced that it will no longer show Flash display ads and is going 100% HTML5.

In its Google+ announcement, Google has set some deadlines for advertisers. The ad-serving company will no longer accept new Flash ads from advertisers after June 30, 2016. Older Flash ads in the Google catalog will continue to run until January 2, 2017.

This step has been long awaited by Google. Recently, the tech company decided to automatically stop all Flash-based ads on Chrome. This latest change will bring with it a huge impact, since the Google Ad network reaches over 95 percent of desktop internet users. Therefore, a complete ban on Flash ads will relieve millions of eyes.

It is well known that Flash is one of the favorite applications of hackers due to its countless “traps”. The flaws that are often discovered in Flash allow hackers to easily install malicious software on a computer just by displaying a malicious advertisement. This can be made even more dangerous by the combined use of social engineering techniques with the aim of tricking users into downloading malware.

So, this ban on Flash ads will protect users from the security threats associated with any Flash product. Supporting HTML5 will also make things better for advertisers since HTML5 products work perfectly on both desktop and mobile platforms.
