So, how could Android be left behind in this race? Of course not! So, a team of developers has unveiled what they call MaruOS , which brings the same functionality to your Android phone with a slight change.
Before we talk more about this operating system, we should first explain why it is different from Windows 10 Continuum or Ubuntu Convergence. While Windows 10 and Ubuntu only require one operating system on the device, MaruOS actually installs two operating systems on the same device.
Did we confuse you? Well, if you install MaruOS on your phone, your phone will basically run Android 5.1 Lollipop. But, like when you connect your phone to an external display, a different Debian GNU/ Linux OS starts running on the external HDMI screen.

So, unlike the simple UI switch seen in Windows 10 Continuum or Ubuntu Convergence, MaruOS performs a complete OS switch. When you connect your external HDMI display, MaruOS presents you with a complete desktop experience familiar with the GNOME desktop environment.maruos android linux
At the moment, Marshmallow is only available for the Nexus 5. The operating system is still in beta form and it will be incredibly interesting to follow this project that promises to turn our Android mobile phone into a Linux desktop.
