The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate has investigated numerous cases of privacy violations and theft of personal data (sensual photographs) against young women, and a 27-year-old Greek national is being sought for arrest within the limits of the law.

Specifically, the investigation into the case began following complaints and lawsuits, which were received by the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate since 2014, from young women and a well-known lingerie company.

According to the complaints, an unknown social networking page user, using different profiles each time, approached young women as an associate of an underwear company in order to work as models in the promotion of new underwear.

In fact, to convince young women, he deceptively promised them high financial remuneration ranging from 350 to 1,000 euros depending on the photoshoot. At the same time, he required them to send, via email, a resume with various details, including physical dimensions, as well as self-photographs of themselves in underwear or semi-nude, as samples, in order to be evaluated by another collaborator.

As part of the investigation of the case, the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate conducted a multi-month digital investigation and analysis of the data and elements of the case, followed by correspondence with the relevant internet and telecommunications service providers in Greece and the USA, from which the involvement of a 27-year-old Greek national in the case emerged.

It is even noted that in order for the perpetrator to evade detection, throughout his illegal activity, he concealed his electronic traces by using free internet access points.

In a search carried out yesterday (26-01-2016) at the 27-year-old's home in Edessa, a laptop, a tablet device and a portable storage device (USB stick) were found and seized, on which were stored thousands of erotic photographs categorized as at least (32) women, including young men, who reported the incident to the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate.

The case file of the ex parte procedure that was formed will be resubmitted to the competent Prosecution Authority.
