According to the Financial Times, which was the first to notice, connections to Gmail have started to increase again. The increase comes after a four-day outage in China, which occurred without any official explanation. Greatfire.org, a Chinese anti-censorship group, blames the country's government, Reuters reports.
Google, in an email to CNET, said there was no problem on the company's part that caused the outage, while a spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry told Reuters that they were unaware of the issue.
In the past, Google service outages have mostly focused on YouTube and Google's search engine, especially during periods leading up to the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre on June 4, 1989.
Access to the Googlehad been blocked even through Outlook and Apple, but now users can access their accounts again.
