A few minutes ago, Greek researcher and penetration tester, Evangelos Mourikis, shared with the editorial team of SecNews and the University of Piraeus, step-by-step the solution to the challenge that has been running for a few days. Evangelos Mourikis proved to be one of the most highly skilled participants, as within a few days he completely decoded the Challenge.
The editorial team of SecNews and the scientific managers/technical curators of the exercises from the University of Piraeus have decided not to announce the solution as sent by the researcher yet, in order to give others the opportunity to carry out their attacks. The announcement of the solution will take place on Monday, June 2, 2014.
It is worth noting that other researchers and security enthusiasts have also sent part of the solution to the Pwnzilla puzzle that we published, but not yet complete, as the technical editor, PhD candidate Mr. Anastasios Stasinopoulos, tells us.
This groundbreaking event by the Digital Systems Department of the University of Piraeus with SecNews was held for the first time in Greece on such a large scale and was received with particularly warm words by the audience. Participation exceeded all previous records with 715 security experts of all knowledge levels, trying to solve the Challenge within the first 3 days!
We await your comments and your observations/criticisms on this post regarding the difficulty of the challenge, the way it was organized, and whether you would like to see similar ones in the future.
