The hacker with the nickname “Ethical Spectrum” managed to hack the official websites of several celebrities, altering their content.
The targeted websites include those of Miley Cyrus (mileycyrus.com), Selena Gomez (selenagomez.com), Taylor Swift (taylorswift.com) and Britney Spears (britneyspears.com).
According to the Ethical Spectrum Twitter (@Εth_Spectrum), the hacking attacks took place on March 8.
The websites of Ground Ctrl(groundctrl.com), Aaron Lewis(aaronlewismusic.com/), Chelsea Handler(chelseahandler.com), Kacey Musgraves(kaceymusgraves.com), mypinkfriday.com, therealcocojones.com, christinagrimmieofficial.com were also attacked.
The following message was posted on the compromised websites: “Why i hacked this site, you can ask this person greg.patterson@groundctrl.com”.
Greg Patterson is the founder of the Groundctrl, a company that designs websites for artists. The hacker said he discovered a vulnerability in the Ground Ctrl website and managed to gain access to the database, stealing usernames and passwords of 2.5 million users.
