Vizify, a startup that transforms social media data into interactive infographics and videos, announced that it has been acquired by Yahoo, without disclosing the acquisition price.
The technology developed by Vizify allows users to create graphs and videos based on data available online through their social media accounts. In essence, through Vizify, it is possible to create an “online biography”.
As part of the acquisition, Vizify's services will cease, as the team of employees will join Yahoo's executive team. However, it has not been made clear how this team will continue to operate within Yahoo. From Yahoo's side, the only comment came from the company's spokesperson, who emphasized that "Yahoo and Vizify share the same passion for technology," adding that the five-person team that makes up Vizify will join Yahoo's San Francisco workforce.
Following the announcement of the acquisition, Vizify's service will not accept new subscribers, while instructions and clarifications are provided through its website for those who hold free or paid Vizify accounts.
Talks to acquire the company, which was founded in 2011, began last summer. This is Yahoo's 37thacquisition since 2012, when Marissa Mayer took over as CEO.
