Cray, IBM and Intel design supercomputer modeled after the human brainA large team of scientists is working together on a project that aims to develop the fastest computer ever created, and will operate on the model of the human brain.

The Human Brain Project was launched on Monday at a meeting held in Switzerland, and brings together the knowledge and enthusiasm of 135 scientists, as well as the support of government agencies and scientific institutions.

Designed with a ten-year horizon, it is expected to cost $1.6 million and will bear its first fruits by 2020.

The supercomputer that will be created will be approximately 1,000 times faster than the most powerful systems we know of today, while IBM, Cray and Intel.

In addition to the above, the computer that will be created is expected to help scientists understand the processes of the human brain, such as where thoughts and emotions .
