Last year, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg set a goal of reading two books a month, and he did. Other years, he learned Chinese or ate only meat he killed himself.
This year, Zuckerberg has been visibly envious of Iron Man 's futuristic life , Tony Stark. He made a bet with himself to create his own JARVIS, the digital butler from Iron Man who controlled Stark's life and home.
As he stated in the relevant status he posted on Facebook, he will start studying the basics of smart-home technology (he is also a fan of Amazon's Echo) but then he wants to create something that will be tailored to his own home.
“Then I will start teaching it to understand my voice to control everything in our house, music, lights, temperature, etc. I will teach it to open the door for my friends by recognizing their faces when they ring the doorbell. I will also teach it to notify me if something happens in Max’s room when I am not there. In the field of work, it will help me visualize data in virtual reality to help me build better services and lead my organizations more effectively.”
Of course, don't expect an AI butler to help you anytime soon. As Zuckerberg said, he wants to build the robot for himself and adapted to his own home.
Other big tech companies, like Microsoft and Google, have made significant strides with artificial intelligence in recent years, and if the Facebook founder succeeds in creating a real Jarvis, it could take smart-home technology to the next level.
