Britain: Police on alert for Anonymous…
Remember remember the 5th of November…
"We call on all activists, workers, students, doctors, nurses, everyone who wants to see a positive change in the world, to join us, in Trafalgar Square, on November 5, from 6:00 PM, ..." reads, among other things, the call posted on Facebook.
British police are on alert ahead of the "march of a thousand masks" that will take place this Thursday, in Westminster, London, against austerity and state surveillance.
The march, which takes place every year and is organized by Anonymous , caused serious incidents last year between the police and the demonstrators, who were wearing Guy Fawkes masks, which is also the organization's trademark.
“This year we have serious reason to believe that peaceful protest is the last thing on the minds of the people who will participate,” a police spokesman told the Guardian.
The story of Fawkes, who, along with a group of apostate Catholics, attempted to assassinate King James I of England by blowing up Parliament in the early 1600s, was made famous by the famous film "V for Vendetta".
