In the past, car radio theft or forgetting to lock the car were the biggest security concerns for drivers. But now, more cars are connected to the Internet, and drivers are at greater risk ofcar hacking, according to the general manager of Intel Security.

Mr Young said security experts have demonstrated that they can hack into a vehicle and disable it remotely, which would cause panic in many, if not most, people as more and more cars become “networked”.

"Two years ago, we talked about car hacking on a theoretical level. Now we know it can actually happen," he said.

“Cybersecurity used to be about online fraud and identity theft. Now there are security issues that involve the physical presence of connected cars.

There are hundreds of computer systems in a car. We have connected cars to the internet. We have already seen some examples

When cyberattacks move from credit card theft to car accidents, there is a physical threat that is a concern for people and governments.”

Research

Intel ( ASRB) to bring together the best security researchers from around the world who focus on the cybersecurity of physical systems.

“We can raise the bar against cyberattacks in cars. With the help of ASRB, Intel can ensure security is a critical element in the design of every connected car,” said Young.
