PRESS RELEASE – Another case of suicidal intent expressed via the Internet was prevented by the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate (DIE), through the innovative online procedure "CYBER ALERT"

From the investigation of the Directorate for the Prosecution of Electronic Crime (DIE), and with the assistance of the relevant police department, the person who expressed the intention was found and his physical integrity was ensured.

The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate (DIE), through the innovative online process "Cyber ​​Alert", in collaboration with the local Police Department, prevented another case of suicide.

Specifically, the Coordinating Operations Center of the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate (DIE) was informed in the afternoon hours of the day before yesterday (21-07-2015) that an internet user, who owns and manages a profile on a social networking website, has made an online post, which referred to his direct intention to commit suicide.

The thorough police and digital-online investigation revealed the geographical location of the person who had made the controversial post.

The local Police Department was immediately informed and, as it was determined, the controversial post had been made by a 40-year-old Greek national, who was located and his physical integrity was ensured.

The competent Prosecutor was informed about the attempted suicide . The pre-investigation material that was collected will be submitted to the competent prosecutor's authority.
