Thessalonians are improving their city via the internet!
Now, residents of the Municipality of Thessaloniki have the ability to communicate via the internet with their municipal authority, so that they can report, and in this way resolve, dailyproblems related to their Municipality, such as discarded garbage, illegally parked vehicles, burnt out light bulbs, broken tiles on the sidewalks, illegal advertising signs and anything else that comes to their attention.
In this way, citizens can easily and effectively communicate problems that fall within the jurisdiction of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, thus replacing the usually time-consuming and ineffective telephone communication.
Communication takes place through the "Improving my city" platform (you can visit it by clicking here🙂
"I Improve My City" is already being implemented in the Municipality of Thermi, Thessaloniki, where the results are encouraging: in the 900 days of operation of the application, 1,389 requests were shared by citizens and 2,358 comments were submitted.
This communication with the municipal authorities is carried out through a software platform called "Improving my city", which was developed in collaboration with the Knowledge, Multimedia and Social Network Analysis Laboratory, which belongs to the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies of the National Center for Research & Technological Development (CERTH) and the URENIO research unit of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The commercialization of the application is carried out by the spin-off companies INFALIA PC and INTELSPACE, of CERTH and AUTH respectively.
In fact, the platform will soon be functional for Android and iPhone smart mobile devices.
At the same time, the application has already been adopted by municipalities in Spain (Badajoz), Slovenia (Ptuj), Kazakhstan (Kostanay) and Angola (Luanda).
