Russia: MTS procures high-capacity wireless systems – Two-year agreement for the supply of high-capacity wireless systems with Intracom Telecom.
Intracom Telecom, an international telecommunications systems provider, announced the signing of a framework agreement, through its subsidiary in Russia, Intracom Svyaz, for the supply of high-capacity Gigabit Ethernet systems, StreetNode-V60 and UltraLink-FX80, to MTS Russia, the country's largest mobile operator. The framework agreement is for a period of two years.
MTS is the largest mobile operator in Russia and Central and Eastern Europe, providing mobile and fixed telephony, Internet, content and entertainment services. Together with its subsidiaries, the company currently serves more than 100 million subscribers.
MTS Russia selected these radio systems following an international competition as it upgrades its network to provide even greater street-level capacity and to offer 4G+ services to its subscribers. The StreetNode-V60 and UltraLink-FX80 systems operate in the 60 GHz and 70/80 GHz ultra-high frequency ranges respectively and are ideal choices for applications ranging from Small Cell to Macro-cell Backhaul & Fronthaul.
Both systems offer top speeds, up to 3 Gbit/s on the UltraLink-FX80 and 1.7 Gbit/s on the StreetNode-V60. They are easily mounted on streetlight poles, building surfaces, and standard telecommunications towers.
