Nokia denies returning to the smartphone market
A report last week suggested that Nokia was planning to return to the smartphone market in 2016, when its agreement with Microsoft, which resulted from the acquisition of its devices and services division by the American company, will expire. However, the Finns seem to be denying the rumors, with an official statement characterizing the publication as false and inaccurate.
NOKIA's exact statement is as follows:
“NOKIA has recently become aware of reports claiming that the company has communicated its intention to manufacture devices at R&D facilities in China. These reports are false and include commentary that is incorrectly attributed to a Nokia Networks executive.”
Thus, it seems that the Finnish company does not currently intend to release smartphones, however, we must remember that, recently, it had launched an Android Tablet, the NOKIA N1, which we also saw at MWC 2015 in Barcelona
