The opportunity to learn about the methods used by Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) to defend the UK against cyberattacks is being offered by the organisation to computer science students through its ten-week “Cyber Insider” summer programme.

Beneficiaries (first or second year computer science students) will work with cybersecurity as their trainers.
The program is designed for the period from July 6 to September 11 in Cheltenham and focuses on ethical hacking, computer network security and the assessment of vulnerabilities as well as strengths in different operating systems.
The completion of the course may not be that easy, as applicants must be experienced in programming in at least one language among C, Perl, JavaScript, and Python. Problem‑solving ability will be considered an advantage for securing a position in the class.
The announcement informs that, at the end of the program, there will be a Capture the Flag (CTF) competition designed to help participants apply their new knowledge.
The completion of the program provides the participant with a certification for his high-level cyber security training and a monetary reward of £2,500 (€3,456 / $3,800). Additionally, accommodation is provided free of charge.
