A glimpse into the bleak future of artificial intelligence and "smart" devices that, according to experts' warnings, may turn against humanity, is the case of the 52-year-old resident of the city of Changwon who fell "victim" of her robotic vacuum cleanerwhile she was sleeping on the floor.
As reported in a related article by the Guardian, the woman fell asleep on the floor and, while the vacuum cleaner was operating automatically moving around the room, it sucked her hair, resulting in the frantic woman calling the fire department and emergency services in order to free her head from the vacuum.
Although autonomous electric vacuums, which are among the most popular “smart” gadgets worldwide, are equipped with sensors that scan the area to prevent them from falling down stairs and distinguish trash from everyday objects, this particular device failed to distinguish the woman's hair from ordinary dirt, resulting in the unfortunate incident.
The article states that the woman escaped serious injury, but it remains unknown whether she ultimately held the robotic vacuum cleaner.
