Online shopping service eBayannounced on Wednesday that it plans to cut about 2,400 jobs, or 7% of its workforce, in the current quarter, in an effort to simplify its organizational structure.

The company's net revenue for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2014, amounted to $936 million, marking an increase compared to $850 million the previous year. Revenue amounted to $4.92 billion, contributed by increased sales during the Christmas holidays and the secure online transaction service PayPal.eBay had announced in September that it plans in 2015 to separate the PayPal activities from its assets into a separate listed company.
