Tough times for hackers: In the wake of the massive attack on Sony Pictures – which the US government continues to insist was carried out by North Korea – President Barak Obama is expected to push hard for new legislation that will combat online threats.
The disclosures of these proposals will come at the beginning of next week, as an anonymous White House spokesperson told reporters today, according to Reuters.
Obama will seek to “improve trust in technology by addressing identity theft attacks and improving consumer and student privacy” during a visit to the Federal Trade Commission.
Barak Obama will apparently push for new laws and the executive branch for new measures to limit the actions of malicious users.
As part of this cyber pressure effort next week, Obama will also address the FTC, lay out his plans in bipartisan Congress, and visit Iowa to push for faster, cheaper broadband connections across the country.
