A few days ago the American film production company Sony Pictures announced the postponement of the premiere of “The Interview”, joining the threats of the hacking group GOP which demands the definitive cancellation of the film's screening.
According to reliable sources, top executives at Sony Pictures Entertainment received new emails on Thursday night, allegedly from the Guardians of Peace (GOP), stating that “the decision to cancel the release of the comedy ‘The Interview’ was a wise move.”
The information comes from the CNN staffer Brian Stelter, who cites solid evidence from a source close to the company.
The emails that the staff received had the title “Message from GOP”, while their structure and style match previous messages that are said to originate from the GOP.
As reported by CNN, in their latest e-mail, the hackers said they were satisfied with the company's decision to remove the film from theaters, adding that they never wanted it to be released in any form, not even pirated.
Furthermore they stated that anything related to the movie, including trailers, must be removed from any website that hosts it. If the company does not comply, the GOP threatened to publicize new confidential information, a fact that suggests they have in their possession more and more significant data than what has already been leaked.
Now we demand that you never allow the release, distribution or leakage of the film in any form, for example, pirated or on DVD. We require that everything related to the film, including the trailers, as well as the full version, be taken down from any website that hosts them, immediately»
