eBay , one of the world's largest online auction platforms, is planning thousands of layoffs early next year following PayPal 's decision to spin off its business group, the Wall Street Journal reported , citing people familiar with eBay's moves.
"We are focused on successfully operating eBay and PayPal as separate companies," eBay spokeswoman Amanda Miller said, declining to comment on whether the company intends to lay off employees.
eBay is considering laying off nearly 10% of its staff, or about 3,000 employees, a source told the newspaper.
