New agreement between AMD – ASMedia

Every now and then, a major company will make an announcement that will honestly leave us all speechless. But there are also cases where the announcement will simply surprise us and pique our curiosity. This was the case with Advanced Micro Devices with ASMedia.

The two companies have struck a deal, as reported on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE). What we can only assume is that AMD will give some of its R&D chipsetsto ASMedia for manufacturing in order to lower production costs.

This will allow AMD to focus on APU projects while AS Media focuses on chipsets and perhaps SSD hardware. In the meantime, we expect drivers for the AMD Radeon R9 390X.
