The interactive language portal bab.la is launching its Greek version today, along with the Greek-English dictionary , as the 39th addition to its dictionary range. It is the ideal time to add the Greek language as bab.la has just completed the relaunch of all its language products.
“Greek, one of the main European languages, has been absent from bab.la dictionaries until now. While normally our time is focused more on improving the quality of the dictionaries we have already released, we felt that Greek is a key language that we should be able to make available. We had many users asking for it and we are sure that it will be received very positively,” said Content Manager Joanna Maschke.
«Naturally, there are already some Greek-English dictionaries on the internet, but our research has shown that there is still a large gap in this field that needs to be filled. The Greek language counts more than 13 million speakers worldwide. We hope that our linguistic knowledge and technical expertise will help as many users as possible».
Along with term translations, grammatical information, and synonyms, bab.la offers pronunciation guidance and example sentences for better understanding. In the Greek forum, users can ask questions about the Greek language, culture, and grammar and receive answers from other members of the bab.la community, or they can discuss the spelling and usage of various words and phrases.
Furthermore, we encourage users to join us in expanding the dictionary. «We have already created a solid foundation for the Greek‑English dictionary, with many accurate and detailed term translations. Nevertheless, Greek is a language with a rich history and is constantly evolving. We invite the Greek‑speaking community to help us keep the dictionary up‑to‑date», explains George Panagiotou, content manager for the Greek dictionary.
