This is how they thought in the neighboring country, which decided to install free WiFiin key locations, in order to boost economy .
More than 100 lawmakers have proposed that the country spend 5 million euros over the next three years to install free WiFi in airports, shopping malls and tourist attractions. This would give tourists an extra reason to visit Italy, while they believe that the role of social media can lead citizens to more purchases.
The rationale for increasing tourism may be justified, but it is much more difficult when someone sees a photo on Instagram of a PRADA product to run out and buy it.
The proposal will be up for discussion from 2015, while it should be emphasized that only 1% of Italians are connected at a speed greater than 30Mbps.
