A new version of Skype is now available for Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Phone 8 devices and contains several improvements, including support for HD displays.
The new Skype 2.24 includes improvements to the VoIP program as well as several functional improvements that result in a faster execution of the application.
First of all, there is a brand new feature that allows the user to draw a picture in a chat window and send it to their contacts. At the same time, this feature allows the user to edit the pictures or annotate on a Bing map, all with the touch of their finger.
This feature is available on all devices running Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Phone 8 and will be integrated with the new version of Skype.
Upgrades for Windows Phone 8.1
The updated Skype application also includes several innovations for Windows Phone 8.1 devices.
Skype is now faster, so the user can return to a conversation more quickly even when another application is open.
A major update has been implemented for Lumia 1520 owners as Skype now includes HD display support, meaning the app will perform optimally on high-quality displays.
Additionally, the user sign-in feature on Windows Phone 8.1 devices has been upgraded so that it can now automatically sign in to the Microsoft that is also linked to their phone.
Microsoft advises users to link their Skype account to their Microsoft account for greater security, privacy protection, and to provide more password recovery options.
