He's swiping his fingers and making thousands of dollars. Literally. Because a 23-year-old has managed to turn social media into a profitable business for him and is making 500,000 a year tweeting.
This is Chris Sanchez, the creator of the @UberFacts Twitter account. His job is simple. He writes messages on the social media platform, but they are seen by 7.2 million people. And that makes a difference.
Last year, Sanchez made $500,000 writing sponsored link posts. When his followers opened them, he earned 1-3 cents for each “click.” But that’s not his only source of income. UberFacts also exists as an app, which makes $60,000 a week in advertising revenue. As for how tired the 23-year-old gets? He tweets about 60-70 times a day, with various information and encyclopedic knowledge.
Not bad, for the young man who dropped out of college after a year of classes and decided to join Twitter simply to "follow" Britney Spears. "But I had nothing to write about. So I started writing this general information. I just felt like that was how I could feel close to Spears," he has said. And little did he know that thanks - in a way - to his favorite singer, he would become rich.
