Is iPhone 6 FREE? Of course not! It's just a hoax, but scammers have announced that the iPhone 6 has been released for free.
This scam, which was launched on Facebook just days after Apple unveiled the upcoming iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, scammers rushed to take advantage of the entire hype and use it to lure Facebook users.
The new scam promises a chance to win a free iPhone 6 if you complete a series of steps, as reported by Hoax-Slayer. You just need to go through “three easy steps” to have a chance to win the device:
– Like the Facebook page created to spread the scam
– Share the page with your friends on Facebook
– Download a “Participation Application”
But before you can proceed to the final step, a pop-up window prompts you to participate in a survey in order to download the app. The survey will ask you to share details like your name, address, phone number, and email address – all information that is collected by the survey page and potentially sold to third parties.
Despite Facebook's security measures, safe social networking is up to you, and if you don't pay attention to such scams, you could be a victim of one without even realizing it. So, if you receive any suspicious link, don't try to click on it, even if it's from your closest friend.
