Yahoo said the US government has once again threatened it with a fine of $250,000 per day if it does not help with surveillance efforts.
Yahoo said it was threatened with the fine after challenging the surveillance power granted to the US government under the 2007 Protect America Act. The information has now come to light because the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, which oversees how those laws are enforced, agreed to declassify the documents in the case.
Yahoo for transparency,” Yahoo General Counsel Ron Bell said in a blog post.
