A HealthCare.gov test server has been infected with malware

Hackers managed to compromise a server that is part of HealthCare.gov and managed to upload a malicious software.

The server in question is test and was not intended to be connected to the Internet, and reportedly does not contain any personal information of consumers.

The incident was first reported by the Wall Street Journal. The attackers breached the server in July, but the breach was only discovered on August 25, when the logs were reviewed.

The Ministry of Health and Human Resources stated that the website was not a specific target. The malware used in this attack was likely to have carried out denial-of-service attacks on other websites as well.

The malware has been removed from the server.
