The computers of high-ranking officials in agencies involved in the MH370 were hacked and confidential information was stolen.
The stolen information was allegedly sent to a computer in China before Malaysia's Cybersecurity Agency – an office of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation – blocked the transmissions and shut down the infected machines.
The national cybersecurity agency revealed that the sophisticated malware, which was disguised as a news article and reported that the missing Boeing 777 had been found, was emailed to employees on March 9, a day after the Malaysia Airlines plane disappeared during its flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
