Microsoft has confirmed that it is aware of the problems users are experiencing after installing recent Windows 8.1 updates, and that it is working on a solution to address them.
The company removed the download links for installing individual August Update updates, as users reported crashes and bugs that led to restarting their systems.
“ Microsoft is investigating the behavior associated with the installation of the update, and will update this bulletin (security bulletin MS14-045) when more information becomes available,” the company wrote. “Microsoft recommends that customers uninstall this update. As an additional precaution, Microsoft has removed the download links for security update 2982791.”
The company urges users to uninstall updates KB2982791, KB2970228, KB2975719, and KB97533 until fixes are released, while, according to user reports, most malfunctions are related to updates KB2975719 and KB2982791.
