There are experts who express their skepticism regarding the real potential of such applications
Dell, the technology company, has announced that it plans to launch an app that can “read” a user’s mood by 2017.
Dell’s head of research and development, Jai Menon, said his team is working on brain activity to create a system that can “recognize” a user’s mood.
Menon told the BBC that such an app could be used both at home and in the workplace. However, some experts are skeptical about the real potential of such apps.
“I think the potential for such apps is astronomical. However, for decades we’ve been hearing that within five years some app like this will be available but without any real impact,” said Dr. Bernie Hogan, an expert in computer interactivity at the University of Oxford.
