As the mayor of the British capital said, there is already a collaboration with the University of Surrey to develop the relevant infrastructure for the new 5G network, which will take surfing to the next level in London. The plan also includes areas with “poorer” connections, so that there is better coverage for everyone.
"London has earned the reputation of being the technology capital of Europe, so we must ensure that every Londoner is able to access much better digital connectivity," noted Boris Johnson, who is quite optimistic , as 5G technology is still in its early stages, while in Korea, which is quite technologically ahead in this infrastructure, they have set 2020 as a milestone year for the operation of the networks.
For his part, however, Professor Andy Sutton, of the country's largest mobile network, EE, seems to share the optimism of the mayor of London and believes particularly in 5G and that it will reach the British capital in the coming years. He even notes that "the aim of 5G is to become invisible, as it is a technology that will be 'just there' like electricity", which, in addition, "will allow manufacturers to exploit the possibilities of the 'Internet of Things', as something that will always work and wherever the user is".
And if we add to this that 5G networks, as we have read, will be able to offer speeds of up to 10Gbps, we can only wait for them with impatience, not only in London but… at some point in our own country. What are we in a hurry for? Hmm, probably a little bit after all.
