Microsoft account details targeted in phishing campaign

MICROSOFTCybercriminals have created a new malicious campaign aimed at collecting Microsoft from unsuspecting users.

The email appears to come from Microsoft and notifies the user that their email account has reached the maximum number of messages it can send and receive. To be able to use the email service again, all they have to do is follow a link and check the account.

Clicking on the link leads to a phishing page for Microsoft Hotmail, according to OTA, and once login details are entered, they are automatically collected by the scammers.

The risk is significant for users of Microsoft services because these credentials are part of the Microsoft account and allow access to other company products, such as Outlook.com, OneDrive, Windows Phone, or Xbox LIVE.

Anyone who knows how online email services work can easily spot the scam, because there is no limit on the amount of messages exchanged.

To make the message look authentic, cybercriminals inserted the potential victim's email address into the malicious link.

Any user who has fallen into this trap should immediately change their password.
